Do you see anything strange? People tell me that they have never seen such hands, that they are extremely wrinkled.

"My life is in my hands"

This is my hand. Do you see anything special about it?

People tell me that they have never seen such hands, that they are extremely wrinkled. I don't know if that's true, but I'd define my hands as a builder’s hands. You'd think it was from working physically with my hands. No it's not. I'm not that type of person. From sports? No, I'm not that type either.

So why a builder’s hands? Because they built a life. My own life, built out of my struggles, out of my endeavours ... They symbolise my rich life, everything I've been through, everything I've achieved.

I moved from one place to another 20 times in my life, changed 3 countries, built 3 houses, gave birth to 2 children, walked thousands of kilometres, met thousands of people, organised festivals, concerts, theatre plays, changed several jobs, gathered a million experiences, overcame separations and divorces, shed a million tears, survived pains, fought for my life, lost lives, forgave souls, overcame fears... And lost and found thousands of other things in those 50 years.

These hands are my witnesses.

I love them because they are the books of my heart. I once tried to get my fortune told from my hands from a nice lady, and she rather returned my money and sent me home with the words "woman, you can do it". I often thought of her words.

My hands don't look very feminine.

I accidentally burned them when I was a kid. Since then, one of my nails have been growing crookedly, towards the back of my palm.

I have scars. I can't keep my nails long because I'm clumsy and I always end up breaking or chipping them.

I can't paint my nails because my hands are always shaking, and if someone else paints them for me, they peel off after two days and I don't have time to take the colour off. So I wear them short and unpainted.

I have bigger hands than most women, I can't wear just any bracelet.

They are rough because, even though I put cream on them, my skin is generally dry.

And on top of that, have wrinkles.

But nevertheless they are gentle, hold the hands of others with feeling, caress with understanding, hug with love and full of positive energy.

My hands are like yin and yang.

They also know how to defend themselves and their loved ones from threats. A couple of times in my life I punched when someone threatened my life or my safe zone. Thank goodness that was a long time ago.

Today they are more likely to caress.

I can't sit and knit or sew, but I can carry a heavy purchase in my hands.

I don't like ironing or cleaning, but my hands will cook anything for you.

They can't draw or create anything artistic, but they can create a warm, cozy home full of creative energy.

They can learn quickly and have a good memory.

They are dirty now because I planted flowers, so they are not afraid to go deep into the ground and sort out things.

My hands…

I am grateful for them.

They have their own story.

They have their own language.

They have their own voice.

They can do magic.

They have my life in them
